In 2005 when my daughter, India, was born in Manhattan, life as I knew it changed. My dream job at Good Housekeeping instantly came second to this tiny person. I knew New York could offer India a thrilling childhood, but it never would provide her the one thing my husband and I value most - family. We packed up and moved home to St. Louis, never looking back.
I never imagined I would find a job here as exciting as the one I held at Good Housekeeping, where I created, tested and wrote most of the recipes that appeared in the magazine. But to my delight, Schnucks came along with a unique opportunity that surpassed all of my hopes. Today, I’m part of a team that produces many of the recipes you see in our ads or enjoy at Schnucks Cooks meal preparation stations. I'm also given the opportunity to educate our customers and associates via the Schnuckscooks.com newsletter and other surprise avenues we'll roll out down the pike. We are your neighborhood food experts, and I'm thrilled to get the word out about our amazing products and services.
Even as a food professional and former chef, I struggle to feed my family quick, easy, and healthy meals and snacks and to find ways to involve my daughter (and husband!) in the shopping and preparation experience. My goal is to provide my daughter with the tools she'll need to develop smart eating habits plus the basic skills to prepare the food she wants to eat. Okay, so she hasn't mastered putting on socks (yet!), but it's never too early to get children involved in one of their favorite activities - eating. Read my blog for fresh ideas, great quick recipes, and a timely perspective on current food issues and events that affect our families.
