Don't Sweat The Small Stuff
You may have seen my comment "don't sweat the small stuff" on the special we aired last night on KSDK called "Mommy Tracks". Some of us moms at the station were asked to share good advice we've been given along the way. My contribution had to do with the fact that I long for the days when my house was very neat, clean and organized.

Of course, that was before I had three children! Now I want to cry when I see the toys I just straightened out scattered about on the floor again, or the amount of dust on my fireplace mantle. I cringe when I see the plastic bin that contains my precious photographs. It sits next to the organized and dated photo boxes I have containing pictures from my life BEFORE kids. But every time I have those "guilt" feelings about how much I "haven't" done, I try to remember the advice of my older, wiser friend. She said my kids won't remember the clutter, the dust or the disorganized photographs. They'll remember the times I danced with them to their favorite songs, played games or baked cookies with them and made the kitchen even more of a disaster. In other words, don't sweat the small stuff. Save your energy for the big and important stuff!

ABOUT ME
Wendy Erkison
Name: Wendy Erikson
Location: St. Louis, MO

Ever since I was a high school girl in Chicago,  I wanted to be a television journalist.   Here I am, eighteen years in the business and I haven't had a boring day on the job yet!  I started out reporting on fires, crime and school board meetings.    When the news schedule got a little too difficult for juggling my job and my growing family,  I was given a wonderful opportunity to join Show Me St. Louis.   Now I spend my days checking out new places to shop, eat and play!   I also get to meet interesting people on a daily basis.

I love the fact that Show Me St. Louis is a source of "fun" information for people.    Where's a good place to have a birthday party? What's the new exhibit at the Art Museum.   What restaurant has a romantic setting for two parents in desperate need for a "no kids" night out?   When and where is the Hannah Montana concert?  It's all information I am interested in as a wife and mother of three girls.  It helps to work with such talented people on Show Me St. Louis, from the producers, to the photographers, to my on-air pals, Lewis and Courtney.   We have some stress, but mostly a great time getting Show Me St. Louis on the air every day.   I feel so fortunate to have a job I enjoy after so much after all these years!
