Surviving Without I-64
It's been a very busy week, but I wanted to give a belated update on my first week commuting without I-64. I survived!

It wasn't as bad as I had feared, which seems to be a common reaction. I don't know what alternate route everyone else is taking, but I-44 has been very pleasant. I do notice more congestion getting on I-44, at highway 141. But once I get through that, it's been relatively smooth sailing. I have a schedule that's a little different every day, so that probably helps.

I do automatically add about ten minutes to my commute off the top, just getting to I-44. But the fact that I'm not sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic everday is a nice surprise. We'll see if anything changes next week but so far, so good!

ABOUT ME
Wendy Erkison
Name: Wendy Erikson
Location: St. Louis, MO

Ever since I was a high school girl in Chicago,  I wanted to be a television journalist.   Here I am, eighteen years in the business and I haven't had a boring day on the job yet!  I started out reporting on fires, crime and school board meetings.    When the news schedule got a little too difficult for juggling my job and my growing family,  I was given a wonderful opportunity to join Show Me St. Louis.   Now I spend my days checking out new places to shop, eat and play!   I also get to meet interesting people on a daily basis.

I love the fact that Show Me St. Louis is a source of "fun" information for people.    Where's a good place to have a birthday party? What's the new exhibit at the Art Museum.   What restaurant has a romantic setting for two parents in desperate need for a "no kids" night out?   When and where is the Hannah Montana concert?  It's all information I am interested in as a wife and mother of three girls.  It helps to work with such talented people on Show Me St. Louis, from the producers, to the photographers, to my on-air pals, Lewis and Courtney.   We have some stress, but mostly a great time getting Show Me St. Louis on the air every day.   I feel so fortunate to have a job I enjoy after so much after all these years!
